Installation error
Installation error covers mistakes made while handling, mounting and wiring PV equipment on site. These mistakes can damage parts directly or leave weak points that fail later in operation. Cells can crack when modules are handled roughly during installation or when workers step on them. Front glass can break when clamp screws are tightened too much or when the clamp design is poor. DC connector and cable defects are attributed to the installation stage as well as to production and operation. Common causes on the wiring side include bad crimping, mismatched connectors, poor routing or strain relief, and poor wiring or sealing in junction boxes. Missing or insufficient bypass diode protection is also listed as a defect that can come from installation. To reduce exposure, have trained personnel do the installation, use proper crimping tools, keep connectors and cables dry during installation, and avoid putting mechanical stress on modules. If the installer swaps in different connectors, get a contractual agreement that keeps the warranty valid and inspect the system regularly. Fix crimping and installation errors with compatible connector types.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 1: support check: partial - Passages show installation-stage issues (handling, stepping, too-tight screws, DC connector/cable defects) but don't define the category or state that mistakes leave weak points that fail later.
- sentence 5: support check: partial - Crimping errors, mismatched connectors, routing/strain relief and junction-box wiring/sealing defects appear in mitigations and captions, but are not explicitly stated as common causes. -->
