Fan fail message
When an internal cooling fan stops working properly, the inverter puts a fan fail warning on its LCD or logs an alarm code, and on some models the alarm LED flashes. Each manufacturer names this message differently. Examples include ExtFanErr, External fan fault, Fan 1 or Fan 2 Failure, Low fan speed and Fan Life Reached. The usual causes behind this fan failure message are a blocked fan, a fan that has reached the end of its service life, or poor contact at the fan socket connector. Some inverters log a separate Fan Life Reached event when the fan reaches end of life, and the unit may then need servicing by an authorized provider. Without working fans the inverter is not cooled properly, and this affects how it operates. Watch the alarm for a few minutes first, because it can clear by itself. If the message stays after the fans are cleaned, replace the fan. On some inverters the display cannot confirm that a fan is healthy. During the built-in fan test, check the fan by listening to it and feeling for airflow.
