PVsyst
PVsyst is commercial PV design and simulation software. It models the energy a system will produce over a typical meteorological year. The PVsyst module model is built on the single-diode PV model. To read module parameters, open Databases and then PV modules, and pick the installed module. Copy Isc, Voc, Impp, Vmpp and muIsc from the Basic data tab, and Rsh and Rs from the Model parameters tab. Copy the Pmpp temperature coefficient and the cell counts and cell area from their own tabs. You can enter these values in AlsoEnergy PowerTrack by choosing PVsyst as the System Model for an inverter. Any optional parameter you do not have is entered as NaN. String sizing tools only check the array against inverter voltage, current and power limits. They do not model energy production, which needs software such as PVsyst. If the inverter power is not limited in the model, PVsyst treats the active power limit as equal to the apparent power. This makes it predict too much production. PVsyst cannot directly copy some inverter features, such as the MPPT overhead of the CPS 275 kW inverter. For that inverter, CPS recommends turning off the multiple MPPT option, then cross-checking with the inverter set up as 324 kW and its output limited to 275 kW. The CPS guide on using its inverters in PVsyst, dated September 2024, refers to version 7.4.8.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 1: support check: partial - Passages list PVsyst as commercial software and say TMY CAD software like PVsyst models energy production, but don't describe it explicitly as design/simulation software modeling a typical year for a system.
- sentence 5: support check: partial - u36 says the String Sizer checks Voc, Isc, Pmp against inverter specs and doesn't model energy, which needs TMY software like PVsyst; 'only' voltage/current/power limits and generalization to all string sizing tools goes beyond the passage.
- sentence 7: support check: partial - u36 recommends unchecking multiple MPPT and the 324 kW cross-check, and says MPPT overhead emulation isn't directly available in most CAD, but it doesn't say PVsyst specifically can't copy features, and the 324 kW setup is for 275 kW models only.
- sentence 7: review: partial - The CPS manual supports both recommendations (uncheck multiple MPPT, then cross-check with a 324 kW inverter limited to 275 kW), but it says MPPT overhead emulation is not directly available in 'most simulation CAD', not that PVsyst specifically cannot copy… -->
