Qualified person
SMA manuals mark some sections with a qualified person label, and only qualified persons may carry out the work in those sections. On the Sunny Boy Smart Energy, a qualified person connects the SMA Rapid Shutdown Initiator RSI-US-50 as an extra external initiator alongside the inverter's DC disconnect switch. Qualified-person sections of the Sunny Boy Smart Energy manual also cover limiting active power feed-in to meet grid operator requirements, and firmware updates through the SMA 360° app. In off-grid systems with a diesel generator, setting the Discharge Cut-off voltage function is a qualified-person task. Generac says PWRcell battery module and upgrade kits must be installed by a qualified individual.
