Under the Eversource Connecticut Yellow Book, a licensed electrician is a master electrician who holds a valid E-1 or E-9 license from the State of Connecticut, and that person is responsible for all work done under the policy. An E-9 holder may do only residential and light commercial work. An E-2 holder may work only while employed by a contractor licensed for that work. Solis hybrid inverter manuals say operations must be done by a licensed electrician or by a person Solis has authorized. Generac warns never to connect its PWRcell three-phase inverter to a building's electrical system unless a licensed electrician has installed an approved transfer switch. The KACO blueplanet 87.0-165 TL3 operating manual is written for the authorised electrician. In New York City, it is unlawful to do electrical work except under a master or special electrician license, or to call yourself a licensed electrician without that authorization. In New York City, an applicant needs years of supervised wiring experience, must pass an examination and a character review by the license board, and must renew the license every year. O&M service tables assign repairs such as replacing DC source circuit fuses and finding or repairing ground faults to master or journeyman electricians.
