Sandia National Laboratories
Its reports list sites in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Livermore, California. Sandia developed the Sandia Photovoltaic Array Performance Model. The model covers the electrical, thermal and optical behavior of PV modules and runs on hourly solar resource and weather data. Sandia says the model has been validated for flat-plate modules of all technologies, for concentrator modules and for large arrays. It is used for system design, for translating field measurements to standard reporting conditions, and for comparing measured with expected performance. Sandia also built Pecos, an open-source tool that filters and analyzes PV monitoring data to check data quality and roll raw data up into energy tests. Sandia staff wrote a report on gaps in solar PV O&M standards and best practices, funded by the DOE SunShot Initiative and supported by a Sandia technical O&M working group. Sandia worked with NREL and the SunSpec Alliance on a DOE-supported best-practices guide for operating and maintaining PV and energy storage systems.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 5: support check: partial - The passages show SunShot funding and a Sandia Technical O&M working group, but they never state the report's topic is gaps in O&M standards and best practices. The title appears only as 'Improvement Efforts'.
- sentence 6: support check: partial - The passage says NREL, Sandia and SunSpec were supported by DOE SETO in producing a report, but it doesn't say the report is a best-practices guide or that it covers PV and energy storage O&M. -->
