Wireless range extension
Wireless range extension improves a weak radio link between the inverter and the Wi-Fi router or access point, so the inverter can find and stay connected to the network. Use it when the inverter cannot see the wireless network, sees it but cannot connect, or keeps showing connection-loss messages, after you have checked that the router is on, in range and working normally. The simplest step is to move the router as close to the inverter as you can, keeping in mind the materials the signal must pass through, and to keep the tip of the antenna, which is a dead zone, from pointing at the router. You can also install a Wi-Fi repeater partway between the inverter and the router, placed so that it avoids the worst obstacles. On some SMA inverters, an Antenna Extension Kit accessory can be fitted inside the inverter, including as a retrofit, to extend its radio range. Check the signal quality during installation, where it is shown in dBm. Even a good radio link can drop out from time to time, so SMA generally recommends a wired Ethernet connection instead.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 2: support check: partial - Passages cover not identifying network, not connecting, and often-displayed messages with router checks, but the 'connection-loss' messages and the ordering after checks are only loosely stated; the repeater is recommended for frequent messages, while not-found/not-connect cases recommend moving the router.
- sentence 3: support check: partial - Moving the router close, considering materials, and the antenna tip dead zone are stated, but 'simplest step' is not stated and 'as close as you can' is merged with the materials guidance.
- sentence 5: support check: partial - Antenna Extension Kit installed in the inverter, retrofittable, expands radio range are stated, but 'some SMA inverters' is not specifically stated, though implied by the product-specific accessory.
- sentence 1: review: partial - The passages back improving a weak inverter-to-router signal so the inverter can find and connect to the network, but they do not mention staying connected or access points. -->
