Cable replacement
Cable replacement means swapping out damaged DC cable runs. It is the main corrective action for a cable defect. Cable failures are considered among the most severe PV array failures because they happen often and hurt performance. Damage to look for includes corroded cables and cables bitten by animals. Replacing the cable is not enough by itself. Also correct the routing and strain relief, and protect exposed wiring from UV and mechanical damage. After the repair, confirm that the insulation is intact. Regular integrity inspections of DC and AC cables and their terminals help catch damaged cables before they fail.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 1: support check: partial - Mitigation says to replace damaged cable runs, but the passages don't define it separately or call it the main corrective action; it's one of several listed actions.
- sentence 4: support check: partial - Mitigation lists replacing, correcting routing/strain relief, and protecting wiring from UV/mechanical damage, but doesn't say replacement alone is insufficient.
- sentence 6: support check: partial - Maintenance plan requires yearly cable integrity inspection and terminal checks for DC/AC cables, but doesn't state the purpose of catching damage before failure. -->
