Tactile inspection
Inspection of an electrical installation means using all the senses to confirm that equipment was chosen correctly and installed properly. Tactile inspection is listed as one way to detect connector defects, which can cause resistance heating, open circuits, ground faults, arcing and fire hazards. Only carry out the inspection after the circuit has been safely isolated. Hands-on checks work best with other methods: infrared inspection under load, string current comparison and insulation-resistance testing.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 3: support check: partial - The passages say the inspection is done 'under safe isolation', but not 'only' after the circuit is isolated as an explicit rule, and they say nothing about a circuit specifically.
- sentence 4: support check: partial - The passages list infrared inspection under load, string current comparison and insulation-resistance testing alongside visual and tactile inspection, but they don't say hands-on checks 'work best' when combined with them. -->
