PV voltage fluctuation
Analytical monitoring records PV array output voltage and current together with grid quantities, module temperature and irradiance. It treats fluctuation as its own system loss category, so voltage swings on the DC side can be tracked against the weather data. The commissioning test standard counts a variation in measured voltage as a test result whose possible causes need investigating. Unsettled DC operating voltage can also come from an inverter voltage floor: in hot periods the array maximum power point voltage can fall below the inverter's minimum input voltage, and the inverter can no longer track it. To separate a voltage floor from clipping or general underperformance, review DC voltage, AC voltage, reactive power and the Vmp taken from IV curves together. As a first field check, measure the voltage of each string from positive to negative in full sun and confirm the polarity is correct.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 1: support check: partial - Measured quantities and the 'Fluctuation' loss category are listed, but the passages don't say voltage swings are tracked against weather data.
- sentence 2: support check: partial - The passage only has a heading 'Variation 3 - Low voltage' with potential causes for voltage variation; it doesn't state it is a test result in a commissioning standard in detail, nor that causes need investigating beyond that.
- sentence 1: review: partial - The measured quantities and the 'Fluctuation' loss category are in the table, but nothing in it says DC-side voltage swings are tracked against weather data. -->
