Weak or obstructed wireless signal
This stressor is a wireless link between the inverter and the Wi-Fi router or access point that is too weak to work. The inverter may fail to find the selected network at all. It may also see the network and still fail to connect, or lose a connection it already had. The inverter's WLAN board sends and receives data by radio. Reinforced concrete walls and metal-covered surfaces such as doors and shutters shorten its range, and metal can block the signal completely. Installing the inverter near metal cages or walls, reinforced concrete or electromagnetic fields can disrupt communication with the router. Before installing, check signal strength with a phone, tablet or laptop connected to the router from a spot close to the planned inverter location. The installer can also read the RF signal level in dBm during setup. To improve the link, move the router as close to the inverter as possible, or change the position of the antenna, the inverter or the router. Do not point the dead zone at the antenna tip toward the router. Make sure the router or access point is still switched on, within range and showing normal operation. If the connection message keeps appearing, add a Wi-Fi repeater between the inverter and the router, placed away from the worst obstacles.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 3: support check: partial - Reinforced cement walls and metal-covered surfaces reduce range, and metal reduction is up to 100%; but 'can block completely' is 'up to 100%', roughly fine, though the rows are short.
- sentence 7: support check: partial - Router active, in range, signalling correct operation, and repeater are stated; 'switched on' is covered by 'active', but the repeater placement away from obstacles comes from u36, so mostly supported with the 'access point' and conditional framing slightly merged.
- sentence 1: review: partial - The ABB rows say the signal between the inverter and the Wi-Fi or wireless router is too weak, but none of the cited passages mentions an access point. -->
