Electrical inspector
An electrical inspector is one kind of authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). This is a person or office with legal power to enforce code requirements and to approve equipment, materials, installations or procedures. The AHJ enforces the codes and standards that apply in its city, county or region. On a PV project, the AHJ reviews and approves the drawings and inspects the plant during construction to check that the installation matches the permit set. The AHJ also gives the final sign-off before commercial operation can begin. In Massachusetts, the Inspector of Wires is the AHJ for wiring requirements under the state electrical code. Other officials, such as the building official or fire official, may share jurisdiction depending on the work. Utility interconnection forms may require the local electrical wiring inspector to sign a statement that the system was installed and inspected to the local building and electrical code. A signed electrical inspection can be attached instead. Utility service checklists ask whether wire inspector approval was obtained. They also cover inspection certificates and list inspector of wires information by city and town.

- sentence 7: review: partial - One NSTAR row is a checklist item asking whether wire inspector approval was obtained, but the Inspection Certificates and Inspector of Wires by city/town entries come from the document's table of contents, so calling them part of the checklist goes… -->
