NEPOOL GIS registry
The NEPOOL GIS is the registry where renewable energy certificates (RECs) are created from metered production data. Under the Eversource REC metering procedure, Eversource checks the monthly production data and sends it to the GIS at the end of each quarter, following the NEPOOL REC creation deadlines. Production data is not reported to the GIS right away, so that all of it can be validated before submission. The REC meter is read at least once a month. If a read is missed, the contract administrator contacts the Seller to arrange a basic check of the meter. Production is never estimated at anything above zero. If no read is captured before the meter overwrites its stored data, that period earns no RECs. The overwrite usually happens in under 30 days, depending on the meter. The Seller must repair or replace a faulty REC meter, working with Eversource Meter Engineering. After the repair or replacement, the meter needs a new REC meter review.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 1: support check: partial - Passage says data is submitted to the NEPOOL GIS for REC creation and RECs are created for production periods, but doesn't explicitly define the GIS as the registry where RECs are created.
- sentence 1: review: partial - The passage says verified monthly data is sent to the NEPOOL GIS in line with REC creation deadlines and that RECs are created per period, but it never explicitly calls the GIS the registry where RECs are created. -->
