NETA
NETA, the International Electrical Testing Association, publishes standards for electrical acceptance testing and maintenance testing. Its acceptance testing standard is called NETA-ATS and is used for new installations. Its maintenance testing standard is called NETA-MTS and covers insulated conductors and cable. When the manufacturer has not published data, NETA provides typical test voltages and minimum insulation resistance values for each equipment voltage rating. Encore Wire, a cable maker, says that under these NETA standards the acceptable field insulation value for new installations is typically 100 megohms. The NETA MTS and ATS standards, along with ICEA and IEEE 400, give recommended DC hipot test values for cable acceptance and maintenance testing.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 1: support check: partial - Passages mention NETA-ATS for acceptance testing and NETA-MTS for maintenance testing and NETA's insulation values, but never state that NETA publishes these standards (nor the 'standards' framing explicitly).
- sentence 3: support check: partial - NETA provides representative test voltages and minimum insulation values per voltage rating when manufacturer data is unavailable, but 'typical' is a paraphrase of 'representative/recommended' and 'each' rating is stronger than 'various'.
- sentence 4: review: partial - The 100-megohm typical acceptable value under NETA-ATS/MTS for new installations is stated by Encore Wire, but the passage never says Encore Wire is a cable maker. -->
