Levelized cost of energy
Levelized cost of energy is a finance metric, usually shortened to LCOE. Some guides from NREL, IEA PVPS, SunSpec and SolarPower Europe spell it out as levelized or levelised cost of electricity. Financial analysis training treats LCOE as a separate approach from proforma modeling when evaluating an investment. Equipment makers use LCOE to compare products: one string inverter datasheet claims the lowest LCOE in the industry for commercial, industrial and utility-scale sites.
