A USB flash drive is a removable storage device that plugs into the inverter's USB port, where it can act as a data logger for that inverter. On Fronius units the drive is not supplied with the inverter, and the USB A socket accepts a drive no larger than 65 x 30 mm. Fronius inverters show a display warning when the drive is missing or not supported, when there is overcurrent at the drive, when a read or write error occurs, or when the log file cannot be saved because the drive is full or write-protected. If the drive's file system is faulty, reformat it on a PC to FAT12, FAT16 or FAT32. Pull the drive out only after the Data Transfer LED has stopped flashing and is no longer lit. Huawei recommends drives from SanDisk, Netac or Kingston and warns that other brands may not be compatible. On Huawei inverters a green LED shows the drive status: slow blinking means an operation is running, fast blinking means it failed, and steady green means it succeeded. SMA sells 4 GB and 8 GB USB flash drives as accessories.
