In a TN-S earthing system the power source is earthed, and the neutral (N) and protective earth (PE) run as separate conductors through the whole installation. It is described as one of the most common earthing systems and one of the safest. TN-C is different: there the neutral and protective earth share a single PEN conductor, a layout often found in older distribution networks. TN-C-S combines the two. The supply uses a PEN conductor, which is split into separate N and PE at the point where the distribution network meets the customer installation. Every Solis S6 three-phase hybrid and grid-tied model in the vendor's earthing table is marked as supporting TN-S, including models that do not support IT or where TN-C is not recommended. Before connecting an inverter, check its compatibility table for the site's earthing system, because support for the other systems varies between models.
