TN-C-S earthing system
TN-C-S is an earthing system where the supply network carries one combined PEN conductor, and that conductor is split into separate neutral (N) and protective earth (PE) conductors at the installation. It mixes the two TN systems: the supply side works like TN-C and the customer side like TN-S. PE and N are separated at the transition point between the distribution network and the customer installation. Some countries call it PME (Protective Multiple Earthing). It is widely used in residential and commercial installations. Solis does not generally recommend TN-C for residential hybrid inverters, because large load imbalance can put a touch voltage on the inverter enclosure. Where possible, convert the installation to TN-C-S before connecting the inverter, and have a qualified electrician do the work under local regulations. Every Solis three-phase S6-EH3P and S6-GC model in the earthing compatibility table supports TN-C-S. That includes the models that do not support IT systems or where TN-C is not recommended.
