IT earthing system
In an IT earthing system, the power source is either isolated from earth or tied to it only through a high impedance, while exposed conductive parts of the installation are earthed. This arrangement is common in certain industrial, medical, marine and isolated power systems. Not every inverter model can operate on an IT network, so check that the inverter supports it before installing. Before installing, verify the site earthing system and confirm it is compatible with the inverter model. Contact the manufacturer if the site topology falls outside standard configurations. Local electrical regulations and distribution system operator requirements always take priority over general manufacturer guidance on earthing compatibility.
<!-- review notes
- sentence 3: support check: partial - Passage says not all inverter models support IT networks, but doesn't explicitly instruct to check before installing (though implied). -->
